Jim Howard is a Co-founder of Majority Capital. He has over 30 years of commercial real estate finance, brokerage and asset management experience nationwide across all major property types totaling over $5 billion.
Jim?s experience spans both institutional and entrepreneurial settings. He founded TransAtlantic Capital Advisors, LLC, a commercial real estate investment advisory firm in 2009. Prior to that he was Managing Director and Head of the CMBS Originations group for Eurohypo AG in New York from mid-2004 to early 2008 where he supervised the origination of mortgage and mezzanine investments, sat on the CMBS deal committee, helped establish and implement policies and procedures for CMBS-related products and coordinated marketing activities. ?In 2002, he co-founded Rhodes Capital Advisors LLC, a real estate brokerage focused on structured debt originations. Earlier, Jim was a co-founder, Chief Financial Officer and Managing Member of TransAtlantic Capital Company LLC (subsequently renamed Deutsche Bank Mortgage Capital), a joint venture with Deutsche Bank which he was instrumental in building into a nationally recognized real estate finance company. His real estate capital markets career began in 1994 with Rhodes Capital Company where he originated and processed commercial loans for securitization for Nomura Securities and Morgan Stanley.
At The Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York (“MONY”), Jim managed diverse portfolios of equity and mortgage investments (performing and non-performing) totaling over $500 million; he previously had been supervisor of real estate accounting and Controller of MONY Real Estate Investors, a publicly traded REIT advised by MONY. He began his business career at Price Waterhouse where he became a Certified Public Accountant.
Jim is a graduate of New York University’s College of Business and Public Administration with a B.S. in Accounting and Finance. He is a licensed real estate broker in the State of New York.
